#LiDA101 Citation Management Tool

August 25th #LiDA- Citation Management Tool

I could not start the program on my laptop because api-ms-crt-runtime-[1-1-0.dll is missing  (This is the message I got!)

Yesterday I managed to download Mendeley on my husband's laptop.  The process of downloading proved to be tedious. But once done, Mendeley proved to be a really versatile tool. Wish I had known about it years ago.
I searched for relevant studies in my field; also learned to juggle between various citation styles. I also followed a few groups and found many of them private, by invitation only. I also have decided to use this to interact with peers in the future.

#LiDA101  Evaluation of an online source

Teachers' perceptions, beliefs and concerns about cyberbullying

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/259551016_Teachers'_perceptions_beliefs_and_concerns_about_cyberbullying
The authors have carried out a study on teachers' perceptions, beliefs and concerns about cyberbullying and the need for a group of professionally qualified teachers to deal with this situation. This online source can be evaluated using CARS.

Credibility The credentials of the authors (Eden, Heiman & Olenik-Shemesh ) suggest they have experience in this area. The authors observed that cyberbullying, teachers, perceptions and students have a unique relationship. This appears to be a trustworthy source.
Accuracy Though the study is factual, comprehensive and addresses the issue of cyberbullying the date of publication of the article in the esteemed journal (British Journal of Educational Technology) is 2012.
Reasonableness
The article is well written with important implications for schools and policy makers. The methodology followed, research tool used (adaptation of Li (2008) questionnaire) data collected and inferences are well done.

Lecture: 2017 Personality 06: Jean Piaget & Constructivism

Dr. Jordan Peterson's lecture on Piaget and Constructivism was truly excellent. Piaget has been one of my favourite psychologists. Dr. Peterson brought outmany interesting facets of Jean Piaget's personality.   My work in science education has focused on Constructivism. Two lovely quotes from Dr. Peterson's thoughts on constructivism were so relevant, especially for me trying to be digitally literate :
".....benefit from the possibilities without being overwhelmed" and
"kill something you already know to learn something new".

August15th #LIDA101

Today I was able to review some more studies on cyberbullying. I also looked through some tools which could be used for checking the prevalence of cyberbullying in the classrooms.

Session 2 -Digital Literacy-Choosing a topic

Selecting a topic for research

I have always been concerned about bullying in schools. I have selected cyberbullying in schools as my topic.
What strategies can a secondary teacher adopt to reduce the incidences of cyberbullying in her classrooms?
My research will be limited to schools in India, with a comprehensive review of available literature from research both in India and abroad. Of late, students in secondary schools have been getting addicted to PUGB, and we have had cases of suicides and rage killing hitting the headlines.

My keywords are:
#bullying, #cyberbullying # secondary school #adolescence #strategies #PUGB #smartphones
